Not every dent needs filler and fresh paint. Paintless dent repair (PDR) can save you time and money — but only when it is the right tool. Here is how to tell.
What is paintless dent repair?
PDR is a technique where a trained technician works a dent out from behind the panel with specialized tools, gently massaging the metal back into shape. Because nothing is sanded, filled or repainted, your car keeps its original factory finish.
When PDR is the right choice
- Door dings and parking-lot dents
- Hail damage across hoods, roofs and trunk lids
- Minor creases where the paint has not cracked
When you need conventional repair
If the paint is cracked or chipped, the metal is stretched, or the dent sits on a sharp body line, a conventional repair and refinish gives a better, longer-lasting result. We look at it for free and recommend whichever actually fixes it.
